Winter Florals

We quite often associate florals with summer. The late start to our winter this year has been welcomed by me, it's been a pleasure to wear Autumn outfits without them being covered up by a heavy coat. I may have hung up most of my pretty summer floral sundresses but i've replaced them with some deeper winter florals which are everywhere this season. This is one of my favourites. I have to say I've been lucky, since the weather has been pretty mild so far this Autumn I've quite often got away with showing off this dress to its full potential without the need for a coat. Although I quite like the capsule wardrobe look at the moment, I've always had a little play with the boho trends. The bell sleeves and floaty nature of the delicate fabric gives a very 70's look.

Pairing the dress with maroon suede boots gives the dress a more casual look and adds a bit of edge and adds some depth to the 70's feel.

Inspired by Louis Vuitton Series 3

I adore afternoons like the one I had on Friday. I feel like it's my life purpose to feel inspired by something each day. My love for Louis Vuitton started way back, you know, the days when we were teenagers. The only goal was to own a LV bag. Nowadays, I appreciate Louis Vuitton for more than that. I love the timelessness of the pieces produced by the French fashion house. It's understated, clean and luxorious. The pieces are undoubtably expensive but they are investment pieces that will stay with you for a lifetime and could quite easily become beautiful vintage heirlooms. The few pieces I have will be passed on to my girls, I hope they treasure them as I have.

Sadly, I missed Series 1 & 2 since they were exhibited in different cities around the world but I made it to Series 3 last week in London. It's so much more than I expected. The exhibition showcases an entire season's collection AW15, the inspiration, the making of and the catwalk show. It was spectacular. Laid out over 3 floors at 180 Strand, a stones throw away from Somerset house. This place is completely instagram friendly. They completely encourage you to take as many photos as you like and share as you wish. I love an exhibition that allows this, with the social way this world is moving its the key to more gaining more traction. It's a clever marketing strategy. A heaven for instagrammers, social influencers and bloggers.

Make sure you have at least an hour to enjoy every bit, it's a large exhibition so give yourself plenty of time to absorb, a 13 room journey would probably describe it more accurately. And, perhaps allow yourself a little more time if you fancy wondering across the street to Somerset House to enjoy a coffee or lunch.

I had a lunch date at Granger in Notting Hill which meant I skipped a visit to Somerset House for lunch but we were surprisingly greeted with an offer to have afternoon tea, along with a group talk from an editor at Vogue before a tour of the exhibition. I'm not sure if this is a daily occurrence but we were quite lucky to arrive at the right time. Of course afternoon tea was served in true Louis Vuitton fashion. Handmade juice cocktails, crafted from only the finest ingredients, teas and coffees with waiter service and delicious little canapé deserts could be found wondering the room. There is a great big wall covered in little pockets containing stickers of accessories in the collection and Louis Vuitton monogram letters which we were invited to take after the talk. I'm so excited to now have some of these.

I chose my initials and one of my favourite bags from the collection. Now i'm just thinking where I might stick them.

If you are a fashion designer, a design student or want to enter into the fashion industry I encourage you to make every effort to view this exhibition. It will only inspire, motivate and encourage you. Those that just love fashion, particularly Louis Vuitton will become to understand the workmanship and skill that goes into every garment and accessory.

I don't really want to give too much more away and spoil it for those of you that want to visit. All you need to do is turn up at 180 Strand, no ticket needed and enjoy your journey through their AW15 collection.

Introducing River Island's Style Studio

Did you know that River Island has a personal shopping service? Actually, it's more than that. The service they offer is something that you would expect from a luxury department store and equal to having your own personal stylist. You really can have a personal stylist who will dress you, advise you and make you feel a million dollars. You may be wondering what the catch is. There isn't one. It's a completely free service with no obligation to purchase anything, although I have been told you will feel and look so good that you will want to leave with something if not everything.

The Style Studio, which resembles a luxiourious lounge or dressing room suite is completely and utterly sumptuous. Glamorous, warm and welcoming and with every last detail thought through to make the space comfortable and leave a lasting impression in your mind. Not only is the studio itself stunning, the 'experience' is E V E R Y T H I N G. Which, let's face it, service is what seals the deal when it comes to handing over that card and making the purchase. The staff are attentive and have a flair for making you feel super special.

I can totally identify with the need for a service like this. Since becoming a mother my body shape has changed and my choices of clothes depend on what the days activities are like. My wardrobe is far more eclectic than ever and needs to be far more varied than it used to be. It can go from me needing a killer outfit for an event, an outfit for a business meeting or something less try hard but just a stylish if I'm attending something at a more relaxed venue. The days i'm with my family doing outdoor stuff or travelling I like a more casual effortless look and the days I'm working from home although lazy days in PJs seem rather appealing its not a great look if you receive an unplanned visitor or Skype call so casual comfy is what I love to lounge in.

Personally I would use the River Island Style studio for many reasons. It may be that I'm going somewhere that I feel requires a certain look but am struggling to put together an outfit with what I have in my wardrobe already. It could be that there is a new trend out that I love the look of but not quite sure how I could translate it to work for me. A new season has arrived, like now. Autumn is here and I want to revamp my wardrobe with a few key pieces. I've also realised how important having a great capsule wardrobe is. The basics. Things that work every season, each year in neutral colours. Once this is in place you can play with trends and accessories. My advice would be to use this service for the first time to make sure you have the basics in place and then use the service every now and then to book yourself another session with a stylist to build on this and experiment with some of the trends.

I'm so busy these days that spending an afternoon shopping for an upcoming occasion is just not possible. Especially when I couldn't guarantee that I would find what I'm looking for. But, I could most definitely spare an hour to try on handpicked outfits by a personal stylist over a glass or two of champagne. It's quite amazing that there is no charge for this high end service. I like it, I love it and I'm going to try it out and share my experience with you.
